In the Tent
>
Yesterday afternoon I got tired of working in the yard and put up a tent in the back yard. It's our smaller tent, but it's plenty big and has a great opening. Cleo and her pals spent most of the afternoon and evening in there, but late at night I tossed in my bedding and book, donned my special cap with lights built into it and went to bed out in the tent.
It was a nice night. Around 3 a.m. I woke up and went out of the tent to look around. The sky was clear and I could see the Little Dipster, the Big Dipster and Tittleman's Crest.

Here's our back yard:

Here's a pretty flower that has nothing to do with my fantastic tale of sleeping in the tent:

A Trip to The Grotto
Greg and I walked from my house to The Grotto this morning. By my calculations it was about 7.7261 miles. The Grotto is a cool but strange place, wonderful in its wealth of natural beauty and a little eerie in its Sorrowful Christ theme. Here are some photos:
The Tower, from the upper chapel:

Some shots of the many, many sculptures there, to give you a feel for things:

And they have a visiting scupture, a bronze replica of Michelangelo's Pietá, made from a cast made in 1932 from the original, which I think dates to 1499. (here's a random shot of the real thing, at The Vatican).)

A Trip to Camp Howard
Cleo was at Outdoor School at Camp Howard last week. She had to return to the Citizen Factory on Wednesday, so I brought her back into town for part of the day. It was a nice drive, up past Corbett and overlooking Bull Run reservoir.

Here's an evidence photo of a guy arrested for trying to smuggle birds into the U.S. from Vietnam. From The Smoking Gun.
